The Word of Death:
To die to oneself is to live to the Honor and Glory of God in Heaven.
The first commandment is, "You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3), as given to the Israelites by God at Mount Sinai. This foundational principle establishes a call for exclusive loyalty to the one true God. It prohibits worshiping any other gods or placing anything else in the position of supreme importance or service that belongs only to God.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
Our Lord’s exhortation in these verses is to be generous in our behavior to all men. In the spiritual life, beware of walking according to natural affinities. Everyone has natural affinities; some people we like and others we do not like. We must never let those likes and dislikes rule in our Christian life. If we “walk in the light,” as God is in the light, God will give us communion with people for whom we have no natural affinity.
The Example Our Lord gives us is not that of a good man, or even of a good Christian, but of God Himself. “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Show to the other man what God has shown to you, and God will give us ample opportunities in actual life to prove whether we are perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. To be a disciple means that we deliberately identify ourselves with God’s interests in other people. “That ye love one another; as I have loved you…”
The expression of Christian character is not good doing, but Godlikeness: If the Spirit of God has transformed you within, you will exhibit Divine characteristics in your life, not good human characteristics. God’s life in us expresses itself as God’s life, not as human life trying to be godly. The secret is that the supernatural is made natural in you by the grace of God, and the experience of this works out in the practical details of life, not in times of communion with God. When we come in contact with things that create a buzz, we find to our amazement that we have the power to keep wonderfully poised in the center of it all.
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. — Romans 8:23
The Holy Spirit, who lives in us, is our guarantee of a greater glory that is to come (2 Corinthians 1:22, 5:5; Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Ghost comes as our promise of that future glory, the first fruits of what is yet to be revealed in us (Romans 8:18). Our current state is only a foretaste of what lies ahead for us; we yearn to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling and to be at home with God (2 Corinthians 5:1-8). On that day, our waiting will be over, we will fully experience our adoption as God's beloved children, and our bodies of decay will be transformed into glorious, immortal bodies forever. Hallelujah! Come, Lord, and make this so, quickly!
If you can pray this prayer with all your heart, you will rest assured, you have ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN but if you cannot walk in this life with this prayer close to your heart, you will die and live in the lake of fire for Eternity. If you are reading this, your Time of Decision is now.
Prayer...
Dear Father, you have blessed me with so many wonderful blessings. I thank you for each and every one of them. At the same time, beloved Father, I do long to be brought into your presence in glory as your beloved child. The pain and heartache of the world, the fragility of my body, and my frustration with my own vulnerability to sin keep me longing for the day that your Son returns in glory and perfects me and gives me my new, glorious existence. Until that day, Father, please help me as I seek to live as your beloved and holy child. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
In closing, Joshua 24:24
The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
What does Joshua 24/24 mean?
Overview
Joshua 24:24 records the Israelites' solemn, repeated commitment to serve the LORD their God exclusively, a significant renewal of their covenant with God after Joshua recounted His faithfulness to them. This decision marked a deliberate choice to reject the idols and false gods of the surrounding nations and embrace total devotion to the one true God. The act of setting up a memorial stone by Joshua underscored the seriousness of their vow, ensuring the covenant would serve as a perpetual witness against them if they later abandoned their commitment.
